# Part 2 — Illinois & Rogue, Self-Supported (Trunda + Vojta)

## Illinois River — 3 days

**Stats:** 32 mi, Miami Bar → Oak Flat. Class IV with one Class V (Green Wall). Ideal flow 700 – 2,400 cfs.

### May 5 (Tue) — Launch
- Sarka drops you at **Miami Bar** ([mapa](https://mapy.cz/turisticka?x=-123.721&y=42.172&z=14) · [info](https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/rogue-siskiyou/recarea/?recid=70592)) — put-in, elev. 870'.
- Sarka drives the rental to Medford, flies at 14:00.
- **You are now car-free until the end of the trip.**

### May 5–7 (Tue–Thu)
- **Day 1:** Miami Bar → Pine Flat area
- **Day 2:** Through **Green Wall** rapid (Class V — scout carefully, portage if needed)
- **Day 3:** Finish to **Oak Flat** take-out

### May 7 (Thu) — Illinois → Rogue

- Packraft the last few miles down the Rogue to the **Foster Bar** ([mapa](https://mapy.cz/turisticka?x=-124.095&y=42.516&z=14) · [info](https://www.recreation.gov/camping/poi/265238)) area.
- Camp at or near Foster Bar.

## Rogue River — Hike Up, Float Down (8 days)

**The plan:** hike the Rogue River Trail upstream from Foster Bar to Grave Creek (40 mi), then packraft the Wild Section back downstream (34 mi).

**Stats:** Wild section is 34 mi, Grave Creek → Foster Bar. Class III+ with one Class IV (Rainie Falls, Blossom Bar). Ideal flow 1,000 – 6,000 cfs.

### May 8 (Fri) — Rest & Resupply at Foster Bar
- Rest day after the Illinois.
- Organize ~7 days of food (4 days hiking + 3 days floating).
- Dry and repack everything.

### May 9–12 (Sat–Tue) — Hike Upstream: Foster Bar → Grave Creek

40 mi over 4 days (~10 mi/day). North-bank trail. Carrying packraft, paddle, PFD, 7 days of food, camping gear — heavy packs, budget for honest 10-mile days.

If you want more time for bonus rivers: 3 days hiking (13 mi/day, hard with full packs) + 3 days floating. Saves a day.

## Getting home — May 15–17

### May 15 (Fri) — Foster Bar → rental car
- Finish Rogue at Foster Bar.
- Hitch or bus from Agness to **Gold Beach** ([mapa](https://mapy.cz/turisticka?x=-124.421&y=42.407&z=13) · [info](https://visitgoldbeach.com/)) — ~30 mi paved, decent traffic.
- Pick up a rental car (Gold Beach / Brookings / Crescent City — **book ahead**).

### May 15–16 — Drive south to SF (~350 mi / 6 hrs)

**Option A:** straight drive via US-101 (scenic) or I-5 (faster).

**Option B:** squeeze in a bonus river on the way.
